Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue
Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue serves the western half of Wilson County, Texas, covering 362 square miles, including La Vernia, Stockdale, Sutherland Springs, and Kicaster. The district operates three fire stations. Station 1, located in La Vernia, is staffed 24/7 by four firefighters and one Battalion Chief. Station 2, at FM 775 and FM 3432, is staffed 24/7 by three firefighters. Station 3, set to open in downtown Stockdale in June/July 2024, will also be staffed 24/7 by three firefighters. In addition to its professional staff, the district is supported by a dedicated team of highly trained volunteers.
The district's fleet includes three Rescue/Engines, two Engines, four Brush Trucks, one Light Rescue, two Command Vehicles, two Water Tenders, one Rescue Boat, one Reserve Engine, and one Reserve Brush Truck. A new Brush Truck is expected in early 2025, and a new Engine is on order for 2027. Responding to approximately 2,500 calls annually, Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue is committed to providing fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical first response services to the community.
